Shah said reforms such as changes to the law on multi-state cooperatives, computerization of primary agricultural credit societies (PACS) and coordination of pending policies for the cooperative sector are planned.

Union PUNE Interior Minister and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah said on Sunday that certificates valid worldwide for organic products from India will be one of the many reforms for the cooperative sector.

Shah, speaking at the National Institute of Cooperative Management Vaikunth Mehta (VAMNICOM) Pune, at the graduation ceremony on Sunday, said, “Now everyone wants to eat organic food. Many farmers have also adopted the method of organic farming, but they do not get proper rates in exchange for their organic products because there is no certification system. Through this department, we decided to establish a globally valid certification system for land and products so that a market chain for these products can be created.

Shah said that reforms such as amendments to the law on multi-state cooperatives, the computerization of primary agricultural credit societies (PACS) and the coordination of pending policies for the cooperative sector have been planned.

“First of all, we want to remove the loopholes in the law on multi-state cooperation by making changes. Second, the computerization of PACS, which is the soul of the cooperative sector, must be achieved. There is a plan to create a transparent agricultural finance chain by connecting PACS to Nabard through district and state cooperative banks, ”Shah said.

He also announced the establishment of a national university with courses on cooperative training and the formation of a special cooperative plan for the next 25 years.

“We have decided that to extend the reach of the cooperative sector, a policy will be developed and can be implemented for the next 25 years. We have started this work and it will soon be submitted to the country. Very soon, we will establish a university for cooperative training courses, with its colleges in different locations across the country, ”Shah said.
