May 18, Colombo: Marking a key milestone in its journey towards sustainability, Hela Apparel Holdings has received the prestigious ISO 14064-1:2018 certification from the Sustainable Future Group (SFG).

ISO 14064-1:2018 certification was awarded to Hela in recognition of the group’s efforts to establish a framework to quantify and report their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in accordance with strict ISO requirements, as well as for implementing a carbon management plan to work towards reducing emissions wherever possible. A full group-wide GHG inventory assessment has been completed, including all applicable direct and indirect Scope 1, Scope 2, Scope 3 and Scope 4 GHG emissions.

“I would like to congratulate Hela on achieving ISO certification,” said Faris Fausz, Managing Director of SFG. “Hela demonstrates a strong commitment to reducing its impact on climate change by thoroughly, transparently and appropriately measuring and reducing its carbon footprint, in accordance with the highest international standards, including ISO 14064-1:2018.”

Many certifications of sustainability and environmental compliance of factories testify to these efforts. “This ISO certification demonstrates our continued drive to improve our sustainability efforts despite the global and local challenges we face today,” said Shameen Peiris, CEO of Hela Intimates. “Hela is committed to being at the forefront of the apparel industry’s drive towards carbon neutral growth with the aim of a sustainable future for the industry. This certification is a reaffirmation of our long-term commitment to help reduce our environmental impact.

The next step will be to define and obtain third-party approval of a short-term GHG emissions reduction target and a net zero target under the SBTi, as well as draft KPIs supporting the SBTi reduction target and the realization of true Net-Zero.
