“Singapore Week of Innovation and Technology (SWITCH)” kicks off by unveiling the global-Asian innovation ecosystem


Global platform catalyzes effective collaborations across diverse health and biomedical sciences sectors and markets

The seventh edition of Singapore Week of Innovation and Technology (SWITCH) 2022 was unveiled on October 25 at the Resorts World Convention Center in Singapore. The exuberant forum brings together industry leaders, entrepreneurs, creators, accelerators and investors from the Global-Asia innovation ecosystem at the flagship event from October 25-28, 2022.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Economic Policy Coordination Heng Swee Keat unveiled the four-day conference and expo showcasing various innovation programs, including the SLINGSHOT startup pitch competition, a leadership stage sector reflection, market access sessions as well as showcases of industrial exhibitions and round tables. SWITCH is jointly organized by Enterprise Singapore and MP Singapore, and supported by the National Research Foundation.

Addressing global innovators and entrepreneurs, the Deputy Prime Minister said, “The Singapore government has also remained true to its commitment to innovation, through economic cycles. Over the five years to 2025, we are committing $19 billion to research, innovation and enterprise.” .

“Singapore is a gateway from the world to Asia and Southeast Asia while creating 29 unicorns, including four minted this year. We run co-innovation programs with 37 countries to catalyze cross-border collaborations, with nearly 300 participating companies to date. the Global Innovation Alliance, or GIA, we are connected to 15 innovative cities around the world, with 2 more connections to be announced later at SWITCH,” he adds.

The Deputy Prime Minister further announced an additional $50 million for the AI ​​workforce to double the number of AI apprentices over the next five years. In addition, the country is also aiming to establish a new NRF Fellowship for AI to attract top researchers to pursue cutting-edge research in Singapore, which can in turn attract and mentor emerging talent.

As the ground witnesses innovation-centric activities, SWITCH provides a global platform to catalyze meaningful collaboration across different domains and markets. Targeted industries include healthcare and biomedical sciences, smart cities and urban solutions, commerce and connectivity, and emerging sustainable technologies.

The SWITCH Experience also offers a year-long program of innovation-focused community events and opportunities starting in July 2022. The ongoing program includes a flagship hybrid conference and expo to connect and bring together start-ups. ups, SMEs, multinationals, investors, research institutes, multipliers and government agencies.
